Character's powers and abilitiesTheadore has the ability to emit radiation and/or induce radioactive properties into objects and people. During his time on the show his ability to control the power at times seemed difficult, especially when agitated. Character's backgroundThree years before the series began, Ted married Karen, the love of his life. Ted believed he had it all, till he was kidnapped by "The Haitian (portrayed by Jimmy Jean-Lewis) who was posing as a student at the time. Upon release Ted had strange incisions on his neck. That is when he first began to manifest his power. Not being able to remember anything that happened to him he returns home. Over time his powers are slowly killing his wife with radiation poisoning. Realizing his wife is becoming ill he takes her to the doctor for tests. It's then the oncologist informs Ted and his wife that she is terminal with cancer. Out of frustration and grief he while holding onto the doctor he microwaves him to death. He cooks him so much his fingerprints are burnt into the mans bones. Due to this he is arrested and taken into custody by the FBI. Before the FBI can ask any questions Homeland Security takes custody of him. While being transported by Homeland Security Ted's anger overwhelms him and causes an explosion that leaves him unharmed but kills the agents and destroys the car he was being transported in. Throughout the series Ted has contact with many other characters, one being Peter Petrelli (portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia) who absorbs a copy of Teds abilities. Later into the series Ted is recaptured and heading back into custody when Sylar (portrayed by Zachary Quinto), flips the transport van over and takes Ted's power by removing his brain.
