Character's Powers and Abilities

Peter is described to be an empath and has shown the ability to mimic others powers. Peter's DNA can somehow re-sequence itself to mimic the abilities of those around him. He cannot consciously control this process. Initially Peter could only replicate others abilities when they were in the vicinity of him. Once out of range the the powers he gained faded away. Through the help of Claude (portrayed by Christopher Eccleston) Peter began learning how to harness and retain the abilities he came into contact with. To date Peter has demonstrated the following abilities

  • Flight
  • Precognition
  • Manipulating the space-time continuum
  • Spontaneous Regeneration
  • Telekinesis
  • Telepathy
  • Invisibility
  • Radiation manipulation
  • Superhuman Strentgh

Peter does experience side effects when first absorbing an ability and usually takes him several minutes to gain control. Effects can sometimes be negative while others take extreme concentration to control.

Character's Background

Peter comes from a very polital and semi wealthy background. His brother Nathan (portrayed by Adrian Pasdar) is a politician running for congress and extremly busy campaigning. His mother Angela (portrayed by Cristine Rose) helps Nathan as much as she can on his campaigning. His father Dallas is deceased. Peter sometimes feels as if he is the black sheep of the family and sometimes feels his family doesn't respect the nursing career he chose.

The complexity of his relationships with his brother and mother make it hard for him to communicate with them, but as Peter begins having reoccuring dreams of himself flying he attempts to confide in his sibling. Nathan tells him the dreams are signs of psychological distress. Eventually Peter lures Nathan to a meeting point where Nathan witnesses Peter jump off the top of a building. However, its not Peter who can fly (yet), its Nathan who flies down to catch Peter before hitting the pavement below.

Waking in a hospital Peter is led to believe by his brother and mother that he is going crazy. His mother shares a revalation with Peter that their late father had been mentally unstable as well as suicidal, and Peter might have inherited some of his fathers instability.

Unconvinced Peter threatens to leap from another rooftop if Nathan does not admit to him flying. Nathan admits that they both flew. Peter at first doesn't believe Nathan, stating that it was Nathan flying and not him, until Nathan points out to Peter that at that very moment during the argument Peter is actually levitating.

Peter decides to quit his job as a nurse. At first Peter is lost, not sure what to make out of this revalation but knows he is destined for more than being just a nurse. His first hint at a greater destiny comes when he comes in contact with a future version of Hiro Nakamura (portrayed by Masi Oka). The visit occurs when Peter is riding the subway, and all the other passengers are frozen in time.

Hiro has come to give Peter a message: "Save the cheerleader, save the world". He then urges Peter to be "the one we need" and tells him to go visit Isaac.
