Character's Powers & Abilities

Niki has a split personality power. When herself she is a loving, caring mother who's only concern is to provide for and keep safe her only son Micah. Her other personality is Jessica, when Jessica emerges Niki is transformed into a very dangerous person who is suspicious of everyone. She seems to be supercharged with strength and can easily take down the biggest of men. When Jessica has taken over Niki she bares a tattoo that resembles an RNA Helix. Initially when Jessica takes over Niki she is completely unaware of what is happening to her. Throughout the series Niki is aware of Jessica and her ability to take over her body and at times fights to keep Jessica in reflections only.

Character's Background

Niki grew up as a wealthy child. Her father, Hal Sanders (played by Graham Beckel) was an abusive alcholic. As a child both Niki and her sister Jessica were beaten, with Jessica taking the brunt of their father's abuse. Around the age of 11, Hal strangled Jessica to death. Niki managed to block that horrible event from her mind by somehow convincing herself her father had simply ran out and left her and Jessica behind.

At some point in her life Niki became an alcholic and gambler but somehow how managed to overcome her problems. One year of sobriety (April 24, 2006) places Niki at an AA meeting where by coincidence runs into her father Hal. Attempting to make amends with her father Niki introduces Hal to her son Micah and then husband D.L. Trying to get on the family's good side Hal gives Niki money and Micah a computer, but then becomes angry at his grandson for taking the gift apart. Niki demands her father to leave, soon thereafter Niki's personality is replaced with her dead sister Jessica.

Jessica leaves to confront Hal, telling him she remembers everything he did to her including his responsibility in her death. She then assaults him, crams the check he'd given Niki into his mouth and threatens him to never make contact with any of them again.

Niki's alter ego Jessica at first appears only to Niki through reflections. At first Niki thinks she is simply hallucinating but when the reflections begin moving on their own and talking to her she soon realizes that is her sister she is seeing. Confused and scared, Niki trys to make Jessica leave her alone.

As Niki's character develops she begins to not only see Jessica in reflections but she also begins seeing the aftermath of horrible things Jessica has done. Its not long before Niki knows that Jessica is taking over her body to commit these unspeakable acts.
