Character's powers and abilities

D.L.'s ability is classified as phasing, meaning he can pass through solid objects.  When phasing through an object the surface of the object will slightly warp.  He has the ability to only phase certain parts of his body.  He can also phase through others, its yet to be proven if doing so could be fatal to the person. 

Character's background

Six months prior to the series D.L. was a construction worker.  Financially he and his family were struggling on his construction wages.  After a failed attempt at letting Nikki's (portrayed by Ali Larter) father back into their lives he turns to crime for income.  He somehow becomes leader of a group of criminals.  Ultimately he leaves the gang before they stole 2 million dollars and killed a security guard but the crime was pinned on him. 

Discovering his ability in prison D.L. uses his powers to escape in hopes of clearing his name and protecting his family.  D.L. reconnects with his family, both his mother and son believe he is innocent but Nikki suspects otherwise. 

Episode 6 reveals that Nikki was the one to frame her husband for the crime and has stashed away the 2 million.  What D.L. doesn't realize is that Nikki's split personality was the one to frame him.  D.L. and Nikki begin to argue which leads to an all out fight.  Struggling to get away from Jessica (Nikki's alter ego), he phases into her neck and chokes her unconscious.  He then takes the money and their son Micah (portrayed by Noah Gray-Cabey) and flees.
