Character's powers and abilities

Claude has the ability to render himself invisible. It does not make him inaudible however. He cannot cloak his thermal emissions which allows him to be tracked through thermal imaging. Anyone with the same ability as him can see him even when cloaked. When Claude is invisible, so is everything on him. If he picks up any objects while invisible, they too become unseen. He has also demonstrated the ability to cloak others around him if he chooses.

Character's Background

A thief at heart, Claude wanders the city of New York preying on women's purses or whatever else he wants to help himself to while invisible. Gruff, bitter, and misanthropic Claude wants nothing to do with anyone. First appearing during one of Peter Petrelli's (portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia) prophetic dreams, he is seen laughing just before Peter explodes.

Predating the series opener it is revealed that Claude worked with Noah Bennet (portrayed by Jack Coleman) within "the company". It was during this time together that Claude and Noah were sent by the company to capture Meredith Gordon, a pyrokenetic human, but the house catches fire. During the fire they discover a child, and the 3 of them manage to escape before the building burns to the ground.

The child they rescue is Claire (portrayed by Hayden Panettiere). A short time afterwards, Claude becomes disillusioned with "the company's" goals and refuses to "hunt his own people".

Upon discovering Claude had a hidden ability Noah was ordered to dispose of his partner. After being shot by Bennet, Claude stumbled over a traffic barrier onto a bridge railing where he turned invisible. Bennet assumed Claude was dead until late into season 1.
