Ando has no powers or abilities, initially in the show he was Hiro's translator.

Character Background

Ando is a friend and co-worker of Hiro Nakamura (portrayed by Masi Oka). Although bored with their jobs, Ando is content working in his cubicle, but knows Hiro isn't. Throughout the days Hiro daydreams and talks about superheroes and science fiction. Ando looks after Hiro as much as he can and also serves as Hiro's translator early in the first season.

Initially, upon hearing of Hiro's abilities, he is skeptical and in disbelief. He even challenges Hiro to transport himself into a women's bathroom at a local club. It is not until Hiro travels 5 weeks into the future to Times Square in New York City and brings back a comic that Ando believes Hiro's ability. At first Ando only wants to use Hiro's powers for monetary gain. Reluctantly, he follows Hiro on what he calls "suicide missions". He eventually develops a strong loyalty to Hiro and begins taking every mission in earnest.

At the start of Season 2 Ando returns to New York to await Hiro's return along with Hiro's father Kaito Nakamura (portrayed by George Takei). After receiving a death threat Kaito sends Ando to get his sword for protection. Ando returns just in time to witness Hiro's father being thrown from the from a rooftop.
